TAG Heuer is giving a special farewell to Zandvoort with two new limited-edition watches from its Formula 1 Solargraph collection. The release celebrates the legendary Dutch circuit and its final Formula 1 Grand Prix, while also paying tribute to the passionate “Orange Army” of Dutch F1 fans.
Both watches come with a 38mm sandblasted stainless steel case, giving them a modern and slightly sporty look. The design also takes inspiration from the original 1986 TAG Heuer Formula 1 Series 1, so there is a nice mix of the brand's old racing style and its current design language.
The biggest detail is the color. The watches use an opaline grey dial with a bright orange bezel, along with red and orange details around the minute track. The rhodium-plated indexes keep the dial clean and easy to read. The orange color is clearly a nod to the huge Dutch fanbase that has made Zandvoort one of the most recognizable races on the F1 calendar.
The bezel is made from TH-Polylight resin, a lightweight and durable material used by TAG Heuer. The 38mm case is also just 9.9mm thick, making the watches relatively compact compared with many modern racing-inspired watches.
Inside, TAG Heuer uses its TH50-00 solar-quartz movement. Unlike a traditional battery-powered quartz watch, the movement can recharge from both natural and artificial light. TAG Heuer says just a few minutes of sunlight can provide enough power for a full day, while around 40 hours of light exposure can provide up to 10 months of autonomy.
There are two versions of the watch. The first comes with an orange perforated rubber strap and is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide. The second comes with a steel bracelet and is even more limited, with only 1,000 pieces being produced.
The watches will be available through TAG Heuer's retailers and online channels globally.
